Matt Hancock comes to visit Brookes
During lockdown the senior students took part in a digital parliament workshop to show them what parliament does and how it operates. As a follow up to that session students took part in a zoom call with their local MP, Matt Hancock, who expressed an interest to visit the school in person when it was safe to do so.
On Friday he is fulfilling that promise and visiting us for our celebration of World book day. This is the Charities 25th year of tireless working to change children’s lives by making reading together and reading for pleasure a habit for life.
At Brookes we will be celebrating the richness of children’s literature with dressing up as book characters and a day of events organised around stories and storytelling.
The support and encouragement that Brookes gives to children throughout their school life fosters confidence to excel in all subject areas. The success of this holistic approach to teaching can be seen in our GCSE results last summer, with 100% pass rate 9 GSCE 6+. With 100% for maths and English pass rates at 5+.
At Brookes we operate inclusive entrance policy which brings unparalleled diversity into the classroom. This kind of diversity helps to enhance each child’s development – our small class sizes, tailored approach, close-knit family environment and culture of wellbeing truly sets us apart from other independent schools.
