A warm welcome to our new staff members!
We’re delighted to welcome four new members of staff to our Brookes family from September 2020:
Julia Rivington joins us as Subject Lead – English & Drama, initially appointed to provide maternity cover for Emily Smith. After a career in the city, Julia has spent the past decade as an English teacher, combining her passion for literature with her love for seeing children flourish and gain the confidence to express themselves. She comes to Brookes from Moreton Hall Preparatory School where she was Director of Studies as well as Head of English.
Sam Royall has been appointed as Subject Lead – Mathematics & ICT. Sam has a wealth of experience delivering maths, science and psychology curriculums, and he has worked in various management, assessment and teaching roles for independent schools, further education and commercial settings. A firm believer in the idea that ‘we don’t fail, we just haven’t found the way of making something work yet’, he also joins us from Moreton Hall.
Jo Ahrenfelt will join Brookes to teach French in our Lower School. With 15 years’ experience as an MFL teacher Jo believes that learning a language from an early age opens up new opportunities to experience the wider community and encourages open-mindedness and equality between cultures. Her role at Brookes is complemented by her continuing teaching post at Archbishop Sancroft High School in Harleston, Norfolk.
Andrea Hamre has been appointed as Financial Controller, playing a key role in long-term financial planning as well as running day-to-day financial administration. Having worked in the UK and overseas for the military, IT sector and most recently hospitality industry, she has a wealth of experience in financial management. She has also run her own photography business (which could come in handy for our events throughout the year!)
We’re looking forward to starting again in September 2020 with everybody back in school, thanks to our philosophy of wellbeing and positive education, small class sizes and extensive measures to ensure the safety of students and staff alike.
