Welcome to Forest School
Forest School is a unique educational ethos originating in Scandinavia that promotes holistic child development within a natural woodland environment. We follow the six key principles of Forest School. Forest School uses a range of learner centred processes to encourage child-led learning. Adults are led by the children’s interests and fascinations and carefully facilitate opportunities and new exciting provocations to children.
Children are encouraged to take risks and challenge themselves within a supported environment. This helps develop self-confidence and resilience and allows the children to take ownership of their learning.
Children will experience a range of different activities at Forest School such as fire lighting, whittling and identifying plants and animals throughout the seasons. During Forest School sessions the children are encouraged to reflect on their experiences.
Forest School sessions are led by Fiona Croft who holds a Forest School Leader Level 3 qualification.
We believe that providing the opportunity to participate in Forest School sessions is essential to the happiness and well-being of our children.
The children quickly learn our Forest School agreement: “Don’t Lick, Don’t Pick and be careful with that stick!”
