Introducing New House Parents; Paul & Helena Jackson…
You will receive a very warm welcome from the Boarding House here at Brookes from our new house parents, Paul and Helena Jackson; Paul is also the new Pastoral Lead. They have 3 children, all of whom attend Brookes. Elysia, is in Year 5, Ryker is in Year 3 and Kenzo is in pre-reception at Cherry Trees Nursery.
Helena and Paul both began their teaching career in the UK. Helena was a Year 5 Class Teacher in a Middle School and Paul worked at a Grammar School for Boys. Their desire to travel was the incentive for the Jacksons to pursue teaching Internationally. They were fortunate to gain positions at a very prestigious International school in Bangkok, Thailand, where Helena taught in Year 5 as well as working as part of the swim coaching team and Paul taught whole school PE. They were there for two years and absolutely loved the experience. This led them to further their careers in Dubai, where Paul became the Founding Director of Sport at Kent College Dubai and Helena worked as a year 3 teacher in a Junior school. After 3 years, they returned to the UK, to Kent College in Canterbury. In addition to Paul taking on the role of Director of Sport, they both became House Parents in the Junior School Boarding House, where they looked after children from ages 7 to 11.
Strong family values are important to the Jacksons, they are a very active family and love spending time outdoors; walking, cycling and playing sports together. This ethos is extended to the boarders, who although they’re away from their families, can feel part of something special.
