From lost learning to back on track

Senior students in a lesson

After Covid, is your child struggling to catch up or worried about large class sizes?
Are they coming to an important year, such as moving to KS3 or GCSEs?
Are you looking for a different approach? Brookes can help.

“Covid, homeschooling and a one-size-fits-all approach in some schools has seen many children lose their confidence or interest in learning. We’re well placed to bring back their confidence and rejuvenate their zest for learning.” – Mrs Taylor, Head of School, Brookes UK

We are a unique independent school for children ages 2 to 16, offering a distinctive child-centred approach, small class sizes, and a culture focused on pupil wellbeing.

Head of School, Natalie Taylor, who has been with Brookes since 2012, has seen first-hand how children thrive when they join the school.

“Covid, homeschooling and a one-size-fits-all approach in some schools has seen many children lose their confidence or interest in learning. We’re well placed to bring back their confidence and rejuvenate their zest for learning.”

“Our capped class sizes allow us to make time within every school day for personalisation and individual support. Small, more engaged groups of students enable rapid catch-up with missed modules, increased and sustained confidence and a lowering of anxiety across year groups.”

“It’s incredible to see the children grow and develop as individuals through their time at Brookes, reaping the benefits of smaller class sizes and a high staff-to-pupil ratio, tailored learning plus mixing with other year groups and students of all backgrounds.”

“We are focused on getting your child the support where they need it most – educationally of course, but also emotionally and mentally too.”

At Brookes, our outside environment is as essential to learning as the classroom. All students have access to our extensive grounds, even during lessons if appropriate. Scheduled breaks during classes enable students to re-energise and refocus.

A few moments to breathe and reflect is vital to enhancing learning, lowering anxiety and improving concentration.

“This past year and a half has been a challenge for everyone. Our approach to teaching has really benefited the children – especially those who are on the cusp of an important year, such as moving to the next key stage or starting their GCSEs – and we have been able to continue vital studies with little disruption ensuring all students are reaching their potential.”

“Every child is unique – there’s no ‘one-size-fits-all’ at Brookes,” says Mrs Taylor. “We flex in all directions – and as a result our children come out inspired, resilient and confident to take their next step.”

Brookes UK School is located on a spacious 7-acre campus near Risby, just a few minutes from the A14. The school joined the international Brookes Education Group six years ago, and since then it has extended its provision up to Year 11, investing in new facilities like a boarding house that’s currently home-from-home to around 20 students from the UK and overseas.
